Leap of faith

Sometimes everything goes as I wanted to.. this one was really fast, 38 mins and I am happy about the result. I never really have gotten clouds painted right and now I once think it went right.

Digital art daily blog is one year old!

Woah! Time really goes fast.. this digital art sketching blog is now one year old. So time for little recap.
When I started this blog, I thought, that If I only practice/sketch everyday atleast a little, I will improve a lot in one year!
Hard to say how much I have improved but not that much as I wanted.

Goals from a year ago:

Long Term

• I will make one sketching/painting post everyday in this blog for a year! If im not able for some reason, I have to catch up making many in few day. (in 23th of October this blog has to have 365 posts) 

This blog currently doesnt have 365 posts but I am very satisfied the amount I have been sketching. Only I had few long breaks that I couldnt sketch but I sketched almost every topic in Cgtalk in this year.

• In one year I will be at least twice as good as I am now!

Well... lets see! I will make the cowboy painting (which was the one I started the blog) again in this weekend... so we can see if I have made improvement.

• I will improve and read theory in these painting and drawing areas:
• Character drawing/painting
• Vehicle drawing/designing
• Environment painting
• Color Theory
• Perspective 

I think I didnt "study" enought in this year. I readed one book of perspective (which helped me alot, but still need some sketching practising) and James Gurney`s Color and Light. I still need study/read lot more. 
Also only area I really went was little bit of anatomy and character sketching.. this I have to finish.

Short Term

• I will finish Jose M. Parramons "Color pencil drawing" book in the end of this year!

• I will make portfolio in next few months

Done! but next year I have to make a better one.
 

• I will make series painting(No more only sketches!!) and ask people to criticize it, to see my biggest mistakes. So I can crush my mistakes and really IMPROVE!

 I think my biggest fault is that I never did really anything really series painting. Only sketching. Only few I spend more than 2h.

Overall:

So I think next year I have to have more stronger vision on goals and keep them more in my mind. Also I should update Short term goals more often and try to meet them better, not only sketching! (which isnt that bad neither). I really have to start study the theory more! I was thinking to have an goal to read one book in every two month. Book of next two month will be "Alla Prima".

So study more, sketch atleast the same! I hope next year I will improve more than I did in this year!
